Google Gold

1)        A discussion of your general approach and strategy to search engine optimiation (SEO). What were some of the activities you did for each blog post to pursue SEO?
a.         Each blog post I made sure to mention the name of my company and to expand on what we have to offer. Building on your companies strengths is important to grow and develop your product.
2)        What were your keywords. How did you select those keywords? Did you change or refine your keywords through the semester?
a.         I did not select any keywords this semester because I was unaware that we could mention specific words that would heighten our search engine optimization. I am going to go back through and add key words to my previous posts.
3)        How did you use social media to enhance your SEO efforts? What your your surprises or general impression of using social media to improve your blog's profile? Was social media generally receptive of your blog, or did it get ignored?
a.         I did not utilize many aspects of social media to enhance my SEO. Google blogger allows many other social networking sites to access and comment on your posts, but mine were not generally well received from other social media sites due to their lack of prominence.
4)        What was your most "viral" post? In other words, which post obtained the most traffic? Why do you think?
a.         My elevator pitch NO.1 received the most traffic. I think it did because a lot of students in this class are interested in seeing how their classmates quickly and effectively present their company or service ideas.
5)        Finally, did you make it to the first page of Google results for your keywords? If not, what page of results did you make it to?

a.         Unfortunately, I did not make it to the first page of google results. I do not see this as detrimental to my company because I have the motivation to succeed. I made it to the results page of Bing, which is cool but probably not too useful.

  1. Interesting post you have and great job of getting your blog on Google. I didn't really know how to popularize my blog. I really like how you used social media to popularize your page. I wish that I could have learned how to popularize my page.

  2. It's good that you mentioned your company name in each blog post. I did not come up with a name until later in the semester, so I didn't mention it very much. Like you I didn't really use other social media to aid in my efforts. I felt, because this was a temporary it was unnecessary. If you are interested, I will leave my blog post down below.

  3. Ethan,

Most people I have heard from have not had success in getting their blog on the first page of google. It was smart of you to use your company's name as much as possible but unless your name is very unique and you use it in every post, it would be hard to find it in google. Not many people seemed to use social media either which is understandable. SEO takes a lot of work and is harder than I thought.
